Davis: Seven years ago, I stood here. This building is the Ultimate Ambition - Canadian dojo.
[The camera pans out to reveal a gym complete with a wrestling ring. A large window with nothing adorning it tells us that it is about 9pm on Friday night. The night life is very still with not a whole lot going on. That's Chatsworth, Ontario for you. The population is barely a thousand. Davis stands beside the bench press, wiping his face with a towel and his eyes hungry with desire. He looks out the window and sighs.]
Davis: The night life here in Chatsworth is so beautiful. It's so wonderful. From what I've seen of Nashua, despite its population being larger than most cities around here. It's a peaceful city. And on Sunday night, I'm going to change all that. The night is going to be roaring with battle cries and the sounds of two men giving it their all to advance to the second round of the GCW Heavyweight Title tournament. One man is Lance Erikson and the other is myself, Teddy Davis.
[Davis chuckles]
Davis: One might think that you'd settle down for a mere regional title, but what do they know? They're doing it for the fame and the fortune, but I'm not. I'm doing it because I love the sport of professional wrestling. Yeah, I'm doing it so I can support my loving family - my wife and my triplets, but I've been doing this since day one because I love this sport. It's my life. And with everything else in life, you get obstacles you have to overcome. Sunday is no exception because Erikson stands in the way of a golden strap that will soon enough adorn the waist of a talented professional wrestler. We can't have generic wrestlers like yourself carrying that title around.
[Davis tosses the towel aside]
Davis: Don't get me wrong, Lance. I like you, but I find you to be just like the many rivals I've encountered in my seven years inside the squared circle. You laugh at the fact that I'm 5'10" and say you're going to crush me. Yet at the end of the night, you have them lying face down in the centre of the ring having just tapped out because they want to keep their arms.
[Davis looks out the window]
Davis: Out there, the moon is full. And even though it's clearly out of view of the camera, you know that it's lurking a way out there. However, you remain sound asleep oblivious to the fact that you're in too far to go back now. You cannot protect your lair anymore. This lion is roaring in the night and I'm about to slay another foe. Lance, you claim to be the hunter, but I find you to be the prey. Your mind is a simple mechanism that I see right through. The final warning has already gone out and if you missed it, then it sucks to be you, doesn't it? You can't defy the reaper who is calling out to you... you can't even begin to formulate a plan that will result in success for you.
Davis: Do you know a reason for this? I do, it's called competition. Every wrestler claims to seek it, but you have many who skip all of it in order to attain championship gold. It's what I touched on last week - if you're in a big global fed, chances are you aren't going to find that much competition. But this is the small time, this is Nashua, New Hampshire, the home to 86,000 potential fans. But only a couple hundred are going to see the lion attack his prey and emerge victorious. They have lion tamers in this world, but there is not one man who can tame this beast. You can beat me to a pulp, but I'll keep moving. You can put me down, but I'll get back up in a matter of time. You can injure me, but wounds heal... and revenge hurts. You thought you had it inside your bag of tricks, Lance Erikson, but your insanity cannot set you free. So you can step back after I defeat you on Sunday night and watch your bridge burn to the ground, you can fly back to Kansas and wrestle in POW, but all the while, the thought on your mind is that your undying flame has long burned out and you'll have to face your friends in shame.
[Davis looks down]
Davis: Your friends have had a lot to say about me, but bias is a pain in the ass isn't it? You can seek out a story, but you can watch NBC, CBS, FOX, and ABC and get four different takes on it. The big bad Republican giant doesn't like the Liberals, that's clearly obvious. But I've got better things to do with my life than spend three quarters of it talking about how I was wronged and how I'm right. The Eagles got over it, why don't you?
[Davis runs his hand through his hair before letting out a breath]
Davis: I'm going to be coming back here to the Ultimate Ambition dojo when I get back from New Hampshire on Monday. I may be victorious or I may lose, but the fact is, I'm not driving down to New Hampshire to lose my match. Nonono. Quite the contrary, I'm driving down to New Hampshire to send a message to all the detractors of mine in this world. Ain't nothing going to stop a roaring lion.
[Davis walks off the screen as the camera turns to look at the window. The moon is now half visible... an eerie clue to what lies ahead?]
