Gate City Wrestling is showing no signs of stopping. Already we have reached our first supercard, titled "Open the Gate". This will be a landmark in GCW's future, which will hopefully last for a long time. And what better way to mark such an event than by having two matches to crown the first GCW Heavyweight Champion and the first GCW Evolution Champion?
Before we get to that, we have received good reviews regarding our first two shows. A lot more people are showing interest in what GCW has to offer. The first Storm held at the Elm St. Gymnasium sold only 96 tickets. However, word got out quickly and we nearly sold out the following week at the YMCA, selling almost 200 tickets! With a capacity of 2,500 at the Nashua High South gymnasium, we can truely see the interest level in GCW in the Nashua region. William Ellis has announced that if "Open the Gate" sells more than 500 tickets, we will look to expand to other cities in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Maybe even Northern Massachusetts if we do well enough.
Rumor has it that there are a few wrestlers on the borderline of being let go by the GCW. No names have been released yet, but it is safe to assume that the people that are being let go are those with losing records and haven't been showing participation in GCW for a while. Former GCW wrestler Gianni Sipriani was let go last week, and he didn't even break out of the dark matches. This proves that William is very serious about participation here in GCW.
Now we preview our upcoming Supercard.
GCW Heavyweight Championship Finals
Elijah Cage vs. David Hilt
GCW Evolution Championship Match
Four Way Ladder Match
? vs. Dave Milan vs. The Ringmaster vs. Apollo Mercer
Arik Arrogance vs. Caleb Lanseng
Generic Man vs. Lance Erikson
Dark Match
Allen Dragon & Nightkiller vs. The Reign Brothers
The dark match between The Reign Brothers and Allen Dragon and Nightkiller may seem unorthodox, seeing as how Nightkiller and Allen are different characters, but this seems to be a match to prove whether these two are GCW worthy, and if The Reign Brothers, GCW's first tag team, are ready to roll.
The next match sees two heavyweights, Generic Man and Lance Erikson, facing off against each other. Lance Erikson has been on a losing streak thus far in GCW, and he hasn't been around much lately. Will he return more hungry than ever, or will he fade away, losing to Generic Man?
Arik Arrogance is fresh off of suspension, and he is competing against a promising young newcomer known as Caleb Lanseng. Caleb has Arik in terms of his GCW record, but Arik has had plenty of rest. One can only wonder if Arik's suspension has given him time to reconsider his attitude in GCW thus far, or will be be the same cocky kid he was before?
The next to last match could prove to be a show stealer. A four way ladder match between four of GCW's top fighters. Teddy Davis was originally going to compete in this match, however, an injury has caused him to have to take a seat for this match. Who will take his place? Dave Milan, the iron knuckled pro from UGP, is looking to take the opportunity to boost himself up as a fighter after losing to David Hilt in the semi-finals. The Ringmaster, undefeated thus far, is also looking for the Evolution title. Finally, Apollo Mercer, who has exploded into the upper-midcard scene after an impressive performance at the 6/10 Storm, could take this opportunity home... However there is some doubt after his debut in the first dark match. Each one of these competitors have a great chance of being crowned the first ever GCW Evolution champion... But who will it be?
Finally... Since the inception of Gate City Wrestling, these two men have battled and defeated every man put in their path. David Hilt... Elijah Cage... Two young fighters dreaming of success. The sweet nectar of championship gold is within their grasp, but who will take it? Elijah Cage defeated the odds last week, taking out the possible favorite Teddy Davis in just over 5 minutes. David Hilt, who has the burden of this upcoming match and the looming manager Rich Maxwell on his shoulders. A lot has come into question regarding the relationship between these two. We can only wait and see.
Open the Gate poses a lot of questions. Questions that will be answered next Sunday, June 24th. Open the Gate, and enter.
