Some big news for our little federation in the opening week. As it stands, our first event will take place on May 27th. Thus far three matches have been announced, and they are all for the GCW Heavyweight Championship tournament. Currently finalized matches are:
Arik Arrogance vs. Dave Milan
Teddy Davis vs. Lance Erikson
David Hilt vs. Nightkiller
If all goes according to schedule, the championship match should take place on the Supercard in June. Details regarding the June Supercard has yet to be announced, however details should be revealed in the next couple of weeks. The only thing known for sure is that the title of the Supercard will be "Open the Gate". Also it is scheduled to be held on June 24th.
In other news, the GCW has officially become a member of the Maple Leaf Wrestling Alliance. Rumors regarding the GCW joining the MLWA has been going around since the inception of the GCW based on William Ellis's relationship with Joe Maglia, the President of the MLWA. Also, the MLWA plans on holding a tournament to crown the first ever MLWA World Heavyweight Champion. Any wrestler from the GCW is welcome to participate. In case you haven't heard, the GCW has decided to change from the traditional weekly format for matches to a bi-weekly format. This means that instead of having matches every week, we schedule shows every other week. This is to help cut expenses for us, create a better influx of talent that has other promotions to work at, and allow our talent to have more time to prepare for matches. Since doing matches in double the time a normal promotion takes, we are also running Supercards every other month. This allows storylines to develop in the weeks that it takes between Supercards. It also cuts expenses since we only have to book and advertise for the bigger cards 6 out of the 12 months.
